Bob Montgomery, a former New South Wales state cyclist, spent his final weeks completing a remarkable 5,290‑kilometre journey from Broome to Bowral alongside his 18‑year‑old grandson, Tom Malcolm. The six‑week challenge, titled One Last Ride, was his sixth long‑distance fundraising effort in support of Motor Neurone Disease NSW. This cause was deeply personal to him, as he was motivated by the loss of his cousin, Judith O’Brien, who passed away from MND. Over the years, his efforts raised more than $200,000 to support families affected by the illness.
