Tim Wedlock Obituary, Cause of Death – Insurance Broking Legend Dies in Nashville Car Accident at 64

The Australian insurance broking community is mourning the tragic death of Tim Wedlock, the highly respected executive chairman of AEI Insurance Broking Group. Mr. Wedlock, age 64, passed away on August 1, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle in Nashville, Tennessee while traveling in the United States.

According to U.S. police reports, an 87-year-old driver ran a red light at approximately 12:30 pm local time, hitting four pedestrians. Mr. Wedlock was transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Three others were injured in the incident.

AEI confirmed the devastating news, stating the firm is “deeply saddened” by the loss of its cornerstone leader. Just a week before his passing, Mr. Wedlock had celebrated 39 years with AEI, a company he helped build into one of Australia’s most respected broking groups. Over nearly four decades, he became one of the profession’s most recognizable figures and a trusted leader.

His contributions to the industry were profound. A former president and fellow of the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA), he dedicated more than 20 years to its committees and national board. He was a passionate advocate for professionalism and a long-standing supporter of the Careers in Insurance initiative, known for his generous mentorship and encouragement of younger professionals.
